Special projects

NASA Data & reasoning fabric

This has been a fun collaborative project, working together with NASA and with USRA to develop ConOps and data services in support of Advanced Air Mobility.

“In addition to sharing her knowledge of the complexities related to AAM flight missions that have informed the use cases and requirements, Dr. Hollerbach has been an active participant in shaping the roadmap for our collaborative research activities aimed at helping national efforts to improve efficiency and safety of UAS/AAM operations.”

Collaboration

The collaboration has included co-mentoring a series of students to analyze uses cases related to AAM (e.g., support for wildfires and other disasters) and to design and develop advanced data and reasoning services to support those use cases; the collaboration is leading to flight experiments to demonstrate and evaluate the services in 2022 and 2023.
This work is in support of the NASA Data & Reasoning Fabric (DRF) project, which is being developed to support AAM.  Our roadmap includes flight experiments with a portfolio including sUAS, eVTOL, and High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) drones, with the focus on data & reasoning services for airspace operations.

Data and Reasoning Fabric

The DRF project is much bigger than my tiny part in it. For more information, please see this paper or this NASA video or this NASA concept brochure about the project.
