More Info

asel pilot

I am available to fly ferry flights, inspection flights, or specialty flights with sensor payloads. Based on my experience as mission pilot for various types of missions such as search and rescue (SAR), imaging / sensors, transport, and ISR and simulated CAS for USAF and Army training scenarios, I am happy to explore a variety of flight profiles with you. I am FAA certificated to provide Advanced Ground Instruction and Flight Instruction.

ASEL Mission Example

uas pilot

I provide flights for sensor data capture and for flight testing purposes, whether flight equipment, system integration, sensor, or software testing. With a background in science and engineering, I support projects with experimental design as well as hands-on testing in the field. I am certificated to fly under part 107 (FAA) in the US and as A1/A3 and A2 licensed pilot (EASA) in the EU.

conops & sora

I love thinking through new mission sets and developing Concept of Operations (ConOps) and Specific Operations Risk Analyses (SORA). I’ve successfully developed 2 FAA applications resulting in BVLOS waivers, which first required me to develop training and operational programs and SOPs, and multiple waivers in Europe. I’m particularly familiar with ConOps for dual-use purposes, including persistent ISR, as well as inspections, monitoring, and emergency services.

ConOps & SORA Example

operations

From startup to large program, I can help you start, scale, and review your program’s strengths and weaknesses for your needs, including SOPs and more. Integration of crewed and remotely piloted aviation operations. I manage the UAS program for the California Wing of the USAF Auxiliary, where we have over 130 part 107 pilots, and over 35 with advanced mission training. I also serve as Chief Pilot for Aerodyne Group’s Austria-Switzerland-Germany operations.

technology integration

If you have a functional need that you think can be addressed with aerial (or ground-based) sensing and subsequent analytics, I would love to help you design a system of sensors, platforms, and methodologies to meet that need, consistent with your budgetary and other constraints.

unique challenges

Have a unique challenge involving aerial sensing needs or hybrid autonomous – human or aerial – ground-based robotic sensing? Not sure what your needs are technically, or what you need to be safe and legal? I love identifying and overcoming unique challenges and would be happy to see how I can help you with yours.

Special Projects Example

Dr. Hollerbach has been an exceptional collaborator since I was introduced to her by a UAS lead at FEMA two years ago. She is one of those people who get along with everyone in the project, who is extremely knowledgeable and committed, and who gets things done.

Dr. D. Bell, Director and Chief Technologist, NASA Academic Mission Services (NAMS), Director, USRA Research Institute for Advanced Computer Science (RIACS)

She has been instrumental in developing the ConOps and SORA for all our BVLOS proposals, including the recent BVLOS project proposal for [...]

R. Jaafar, Global COO, Aerodyne Group

By every objective measure, Capt Hollerbach exceeded the given mandate and has built a sustainable team, over 200 strong.

C. Christian, Director of Emergency Services, CAWG

Karin is one of the most technically competent, professional, and hard-working people I've ever worked with and learned from. Her leadership and mentoring skills are superb. I have had the pleasure of serving with her in Civil Air Patrol as she led the advancement of our small unmanned aerial systems (SUAS) program within California for several years now.

C. Devine,  DevSecOps Engineer and Deputy Commander of Squadron 188

I’m ready when you are!
